《寂天文化》成立於1998年3月，是由來自不同專業的文化工作者所組成。憑著對文化工作的熱誠，希望能提供多元化的知識與工具，為文化的承繼盡一份心力。
文化事業是一條永無止盡的道路，而「語言」是最重要的溝通工具，在地球村的觀念已經愈趨成熟的今天，語言扮演著非常重要的角色，也是人類溝通、文化交流不可或缺的根本工具。
所以我們規劃了語言類（language）的英語學習叢書（Cosmos English），以及文學類（literature）的英漢雙語文學經典作品（Cosmos Readers）系列。期待語言不再是一種障礙，不是硬繃繃的工具，而是生命與生命的對話，也是溝通過程中的自然音符，是一種藝術、一種美。
在內化的過程中，我們不斷地成長，也有更大的好奇心，想去了解宇宙的真相。人類不斷的探索、追求知識，最終也是希望能認識世間的事實與生命的真相。所以我們開發了《心理勵志》及《行動智慧》叢書，希望藉由有效的管理，來提高學習及管理生活、工作效能，讓生活的品質不斷地提昇，也更有餘力來探尋真理。
