Katharine is asking Jacob for permission to make changes to her supplies and work routine.

K: I think that in the future, when I start to travel more, it will be much easier to work from a laptop than to transfer all my files—so would it be possible for me to switch from my current desktop to a laptop?
我想，等以後需要在外奔波時可能用筆記型電腦比較方便，就不用把檔案傳來傳去，所以可以把我目前的桌上型電腦換成筆電嗎？

J: I don't see why not. Barbara has computer assignment paperwork; ask her for it and I'll sign it and we can get you switched.
可以啊，芭芭拉負責電腦的事務，妳去跟她說，我會簽核。我們就可以幫妳換了。

K: Thanks, that's great. And another thing: I don't know what the office policy on working from home is. On days when the weather is bad, like it has been this week, or if I don't want to infect other people in the office when I'm sick, could I ever work from home?
太好了，謝啦。還有一件事，我想請問公司對於在家工作的政策為何？像是這禮拜以來天候不佳，或是我生病時不想傳染給其他同事，可以在家工作嗎？

J: I don't know about that. So far, I've found that it's hard to manage people working from home, and it's so difficult for them to stay on top of changes in the office that it's a struggle to get anything done. I think if you're sick enough to stay home, just take a day off. Maybe we'll revisit the idea of working from home later, but for now it's not really an option.
這我不清楚。目前我認為管理在家工作的人很困難，他們也很難掌控公司內的任何變動，要做好事有點難。我認為，若妳不舒服到要在家中休息，就請假吧。或許之後我們會再考慮在家工作的想法，但目前不考慮。

K: OK, just checking. And one last question—the glare through my window really bugs me in the mornings. Can I move my desk to face a different direction?
好，只是問問看而已。最後一個問題—早上從我窗戶照進來的陽光讓我很困擾，我可以把桌子轉到別的方向嗎？

J: You can move your desk to face anywhere you want!
妳想面向哪都不是問題！
