1.特定人、事物、地方、國家的名稱屬於專有名詞，首字母必須大寫。

註: 名稱中有「. . . of . . .」者，則一定要加 the。

2. 大多數專有名詞的前面不加 the。

(2) Days of the week 星期
(3) Months of the year 月分
(4) Languages and nationalities 語言和國籍
(5) Countries, continents, and regions 國家、洲和地區名稱
(6) Villages, towns, and cities 村、鎮和城市名稱
(7) Street / road / avenue names 街、道路、大道名
(8) Place names 地方名
(9) Lake 湖泊

3.有些專有名詞必須加 the。
(1) Hotels, restaurants, and pubs 飯店、餐廳和酒吧
(2) Cinemas 電影院
(3) Theaters 劇院
(4) Seas and oceans 海和洋
(5) Rivers 河流
