K: I'm glad they're giving bonuses this year. That'll really help me with my Christmas shopping.

T: Yeah, you're not the only one.

K: Apparently, they couldn't give them last year, though they still had the big holiday party. I'd rather have a bonus than a party, to be frank.

T: Me, too. Do you know what they base the bonuses on? Is it seniority, performance, or something else?

K: I'm really not sure. I think the amounts are based on some mathematical equation that has to do with salaries and time with the company, but performance might have something to do with it as well. After all, the bonuses come right after our year-end performance reviews.

T: Yes, I'd think they'd have something to do with performance. How are the performance reviews? Painful?

K: No, they're really not bad. If you're not doing well, someone will let you know long before your review time. There aren't any surprises.
