Dear Jacob,

As I might have mentioned, my family will be coming for a visit next weekend. They are flying in from Montana and will be arriving at the airport late Friday morning. I would really appreciate it if I could take a personal day on Friday to pick them up at the airport and get them settled in at my apartment. This will be their first visit to Virginia and our first visit in a year, so I want to spend as much time with them as possible.

Of course, I don't want to disrupt our work or the progress of any projects. Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to finish before Friday, or if there is anything I can do to make sure things go smoothly without me.
