Librarian：Certainly. They're just over there to your left.

當然，就在那裡，你的左手邊。

Chuck：Thanks. I'd like to borrow some magazines for a few days.

謝謝。我想借幾本雜誌幾天。

Librarian：I'm sorry, but magazines cannot be taken out. You're welcome to read them anywhere in the library, though.

對不起，雜誌不外借。不過你可以在圖書館內的任何地方閱讀。

 

★    I'd like to apply for a library card. 我想辦借書證。

Librarian：Good morning. Can I help you?

早，有什麼需要服務的嗎？

Tommy：Yes. I'd like to apply for a library card. My family just moved here.

我想辦借書證，我們家才剛搬來這區。

Librarian：Certainly. Well, I'll need to see some sort of identification with your name and address on it.

沒問題，不過我們需要有你的姓名和地址的身分證件。

Tommy：How many books am I allowed to check out?

我可以借幾本書？

Librarian：You can check out two books at a time, but you can't check out newspapers, magazines, or other periodicals; they have to be read here.

一次可以借兩本書。但報紙、雜誌及期刊不外借，只能在這裡看。

Tommy：How long am I allowed to keep the books for?

我可以借閱多久？

Librarian：Two weeks. After that you have to renew the books if you want to keep them longer, or pay a fine of one dollar a day for each book.

兩個星期。如果你還想再借，就要辦續借，否則每本書超過一天我們要罰一元。
