單元結構：
1. Warm Up 暖身練習
列出單元關鍵單字片語，以圖文配對、連連看等方式，引導學生自然記憶字彙。另設有簡短雙人對話練習，學生能立即將所學運用於句中，為後方進階練習儲蓄實力。

2. Speak & Listen 聽說訓練
以圖片與例句引導學生將資訊代入常用關鍵句型，並兩人一組進行口說練習。待學生熟悉該課關鍵句型後，設有簡短的聽力對話與選擇題，訓練學生抓取重點資訊，增進聽力理解能力。

3. Dialogue 對話模擬
開頭設有一組較長的對話，學生須先聆聽並複誦對話，再兩人一組，將數組替換詞語代入對話中。藉由複誦，學生可加深對句型的注意力，而在反覆代入演練下，則能有效記住句型和會話，不死背。

4. Communicate 溝通實戰
設計豐富多變的活動，如自填地圖並問路、規劃週末出遊等，學生須整合單元所學的單字與句型，獨立發想答案，再兩人一組，根據答案進行對話練習，最後向全班分享自己或搭檔的回答。在互動、轉述的過程中，學生最終能將原本陌生的單字與句型成功「脫口而出」！

What is English Now?
English Now! is a listening and speaking book designed to introduce students to the basics of English conversation. The exercises in this book have been designed to help students gain confidence and understanding in those aspects of English which are crucial for interaction with native speakers.

How is English Now! Starter organized?
• English Now! Starter has 16 units.
• Each unit is divided into 4 parts.

Each unit consists of:
I. Warm Up: introduces you to the vocabulary and phrases you need to listen and speak effectively in the later sections.
II. Speak & Listen: develops your speaking and listening skills with dialogues and listening exercises.
III. Dialogue: provides speaking activities for pairs or groups based on the unit topic.
IV. Communicate: encourages you to integrate the sentence patterns and vocabulary you have learned to create your own answers to open-ended questions.

How to teach English Now! Starter
• Start each unit with the Warm Up section. Use it to generate ideas about the topic by introducing the new vocabulary for the unit. Model and practice the dialogue to familiarize students with the key phrases and vocabulary just learned.

• Then look at the Speak & Listen section. Have students use the provided information to practice the sentence patterns. This will help students focus on the key information in a sentence, and thus give them an idea of what they should be listening for later. Then, use the listening exercises to train them to comprehend the key message in a conversation.

• After finishing the listening component, encourage your students to listen to the conversation in the Dialogue section, and to repeat what they have heard. Then have them practice it with a partner by replacing some parts of the conversation with three phrase options. This will give them good speaking practice through interaction and help them remember common sentence structures as well as conversational patterns.

• Students should already have some idea of how to use the grammatical structures introduced in the unit. Therefore, in the Communicate section, have students read the open-ended questions and come up with their own answers. Then, have them use their answers in a conversation and share with the class what they have heard from their partners. This will enhance their listening, speaking, and paraphrasing abilities.

• The speaking practice sections of this book attempt to make speaking as stress-free as possible by providing plenty of structure and support for students. If you feel they are ready for freer practice, encourage them to create their own dialogues. Also, encourage the students to pronounce words as naturally as possible and not put any undue emphasis or stress on a particular sound.
